Reclaim the Power April Gathering: VENUE CHANGE

Due to circumstances beyond our control we’ve had to change the venue of our London gathering. But we’ve got a new one and it’s all still on and Go Go Go!

The new location is still in Tottenham, fully accessible and just a 10min bus ride and 5min tube journey from the old location. We will have people at Zumbala in the morning to re-direct people.

So tomorrow we’ll now be at:

ST JOHN VIANNEY PARISH CENTRE
386 WEST GREEN ROAD
TOTTENHAM, LONDON N15 3QL
10.45-17:00, Saturday 26 April 2014

The venue is a 5min walk from Turnpike Lane tube station on the Piccadilly Line. View a map here.

SUNDAY VENUE – this is TBC but it will be in the North London area and we are working hard to make sure it is wheelchair accessible

At Reclaim the Power’s last gathering we took the exciting decision to organise another action camp in August similar in style to last year’s event (but even bigger and better!) Once again it will target the extreme energy industry. Once again it will join the dots between social and environmental issues.

This gathering will give us the chance to design the detail of our summer event. What will it look like? Who are we trying to get along this year? How are we going to create an inspiring and empowering experience for all who attend?

The weekend will also give you the opportunity to become involved in a working group.

Reclaim the Power’s working groups are what make our events happen. All working groups are committed to sharing skills and training, meaning you don’t require any pre-existing skills to join a group! (A list of current working groups can be found here.)

If you haven’t ever been to a gathering or a Reclaim the Power event before then don’t worry!  We aim to make our gatherings inclusive to all regardless of experience. We do this through a range of methods, including a friendly buddying system.

Our gatherings adopt a Safer Spaces policy which commits us to challenging all forms of oppressive behaviour within and outside of meeting spaces.

PRACTICALITIES:

To get to the venue travel to Seven Sisters station (on the Victoria line). The venue is on the West side of the High Road, just slightly North of the station’s High Road exit.

Seven Sisters station is just 10 minutes away from Kings Cross, St Pancras, and Euston stations. It is 20 minutes from Waterloo station. It is 30 minutes from London Paddington.

If you require accessible transport, the TFL Journey Planner allows you to identify your needs in order to plan your journey effectively.

Crash space will be available on the Saturday night and we will assign this during the gathering. We ask that people bring sleeping bags and roll mats if possible. If you have any particular needs (eg. you need a bed rather than just floor space) then do get in contact beforehand.

Vegan food will be provided during the gathering in return for a small donation to cover costs. We are always looking for people to help with the cooking.

We can provide childcare on request, but it would be really helpful if you can email us beforehand to let us know any particular needs so we can best prepare.

Finally, we ask for a donation of £20 to cover the cost of the venue hire, food, etc. However, if you cannot afford this then you can simply give what you can (even if it is nothing!).

Furthermore, we will be holding a travel pool. This is a system whereby people who have not traveled far (and can afford to) subsidise the costs of those who have come from further afield.
