CAMP 2024 FAQs

You guessed it … some questions about the 2024 Reclaim the Power Camp which we’re frequently asked. Here are the questions and our best answers, in no particular order.

When should I book my return transport from Leeds on Tuesday 13th while the length of the journey from site to Leeds is still unknown?

Please leave two hours between the departure time of your coach from site and the departure of your public transport from Leeds. This should leave you a decent buffer to avoid missing your transport home from Leeds.

It says on the kit list not to bring knives, but can I bring my penknife?

Please don’t bring knives of any kind. There’s a risk of stop and search on entry to the camp, and unsympathetic media could use campers found with knives as a way of discrediting the movement we’ve all worked so hard to build. Please show solidarity and care for the collective and don’t bring knives.

How can I contact or be contacted by my loved ones while at camp, when I’m being asked not to bring my phone?

Either bring a burner phone (although we won’t know what phone signal is like at the site til we get there) or use the dedicated camp phone, which will be kept at the welcome desk. This will be a brick phone, so it will only be able to call and text. The number is 07934899239. Please make a note of this number and any numbers you may need to call before you set off to camp. Please also inform anyone who may need to contact you at camp of your alias (codename) as this is how you’ll be known at camp and how the phone monitor will identify you.

Can i come to camp if i can only make it for a few days?

Yes, we welcome those coming for any amount of time. If you can choose, you should come for at least Saturday, Sunday and Monday – the action preparation days and action day. If you can stay for Tuesday, please do! We’ll need all hands on deck to take down the site and leave it better than we found it.

How can i get to or from site when the coaches aren’t running?

There will be a (wheelchair accessible) minibus shuttle, running on demand, on all days of the camp, in both directions, between the nearest train station (announced alongside camp location via email on the morning of the 8th). You won’t need to book. You’ll be able to request it by texting or calling 0751764498. However, please do travel via our coaches if at all possible, as we need to recover the cost of their hire in donations. The coaches are also much more time, activist energy and fuel efficient than lots of separate shuttle trips.

Where will the coach collect me in leeds?

The exact pickup point is Sovereign Square Park, where a friendly activist will be waiting with a Reclaim the Power placard. If you can’t find them, you can call, or ask a friendly member of the public to call them on 07923934217.

Can under 18s come?

Anyone under 16 should have an accompanying adult. This person does not need to be a parent/carer, just an older person you know who can watch out for you. 16 and 17 year olds are welcome to come alone.
If anyone under 18 would like support on camp at any time from a DBS checked adult, find us in the kids space.

If you have any questions in the lead-up to camp, please email us at info@reclaimthepower.org.uk.
