Transport to Reclaim the Power Camp 2024

Donations: We sadly don’t have the funds to cover the cost of everyone’s coach journey, which means people taking the coach should pay if they can. The tickets are priced as follows:

Solidarity ticket, for those who can afford more. One solidarity ticket covers the cost of your ticket and subsidises a ticket for someone who needs it – £20

Waged ticket, for those with a wage – £10

Unwaged ticket, for those without a wage – £5

If you cannot afford the £5 unwaged ticket, then please get in contact on info@reclaimthepower.org.uk to let us know, and we’ll reserve you a spot.

We have a dedicated phone for coaches that will be active on 8th and 13th August, which you can contact on call, text, WhatsApp or Signal on this number: 07923 934217.

Leeds to Camp: Book your ticket

Please book public transport to Leeds which arrives in time for you to catch one of our coaches from Leeds train station to the camp location. The exact pick-up spot will be Sovereign Square Park, where an activist will be waiting for you with a Reclaim The Power placard. If you have any problems finding them or you’re delayed, please call, text, WhatsApp or Signal 07923 934217. If you don’t bring your phone, consider borrowing a phone from a nice member of the public for this.

Camp to Leeds: Book your ticket

Please book return transport from Leeds which departs at least two hours after your chosen returning coach from camp to Leeds. This will leave you a buffer between your coach arriving at Leeds and your transport home departing from Leeds, to avoid missing your transport home.

Arriving or leaving camp outside these times or require wheelchair accessible transport? – use the mini-bus shuttle!

Mini-bus Shuttle

Alongside coaches, there will be a wheelchair accessible mini-bus shuttle running from the nearest train station (announced alongside location) to the camp. Travel from Leeds to this station on the day will cost around £12. The shuttle itself will be free, with no suggested donation – please still donate to our crowd funder if you’re able to, though, as it’s not free to run! It will have space for four wheelchairs.

The shuttle doesn’t require booking. The shuttle will run on demand, throughout the camp, and in both directions. You will be able to request it by texting or calling 0751764498.

A note on transport options: The shuttle is a great option if you the coaches are inaccessible to you, or you plan to arrive after the 8th. However, there are still many seats available on all three coaches, which we need to fill to cover the costs of hiring them, so please opt for a coach if you can. The coaches are also much more time, activist energy and fuel efficient than lots of separate shuttle trips. So again, please book onto the coach if at all possible.

Camp Location and nearest train station

The location of the camp and the nearest train station (where the shuttle will run from) will be announced in an email, early on the 8th, before the first coach leaves. This is because camp will be a squatted site, meaning it only becomes secure once the site is taken.

About the Camp

Reclaim the Power is back with a protest camp for Climate Justice from 8-13th August. We’re a decade old direct action network that works in solidarity with front-line communities to make interventions for a fairer world. (We helped sort out Fracking and ran Europe’s first climate & migrant justice camp).

Join us for 5 days of workshops, communal living and organising for a day of action. There will be a kids space, wheelchair adaptions and attendance is by pay as you feel.
